Live Like Jesus: Experience God's Love & transforming presencce with intimacy with Him

New to Tustin First Baptist Church?

We are a small rural church. We love our community and we want to show the love of Jesus through our weekly church services, kids programs, community outreach, and by caring for our neighbors. We'd love to meet you! Our service time is Sundays at 11am.

Who We Are

Our Purpose

First Baptist exists to help one another become faithful followers of Jesus Christ - People who live, love, and lead like Jesus.

Our History

First Baptist Church of Tustin was established on April 17,1885 by a group of Swedish immigrants

It was part of the Swedish Baptist Churches of America which eventually became the Baptist General Conference (now known as Converge Worldwide). This group of like-minded churches is known for its peaceful spirit and evangelistic passion. Our district is called Converge MidAmerica. (click the links to learn more).

Throughout the years FBC has seen it ups and downs. The average pastoral tenure was about four years but Pastor Sean has been here since October of 2001. We are a healthy church that is seeking to bless the Pine River area. We cherishes our long and faithful tradition of Christian witness but we are looking forward and we are excited about what God will do in our future.

What We Believe

×

What We Believe

1. The Word of God We believe that the Bible is the word of God, fully inspired and without error in the original manuscripts, written under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, and that it has supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct (II Timothy 3:16-17, II Peter 1:21)

2. The Trinity We believe that there is one living and true God, eternally existing in three persons( Father, Jesus Christ, Holy Spirit); that these are equal in every divine perfection, and that they execute distinct but harmonious offices in the work of creation, providence, and redemption . (John 15:26, II Corinthians 13:14)

3. God the Father We believe in God, the Father, an infinite, personal spirit, perfect in holiness, wisdom, power, and love. We believe the He concerns Himself mercifully in the affairs of each person, that He hears and answers prayer, and that He save from sin and death all who come to Him through Jesus Christ. (John 4:24, Psalm 83:18)

4. Jesus Christ We believe in Jesus Christ, God's only begotten Son, conceived by the Holy Spirit. We believe in His virgin birth, sinless life, miracles, and teaching. We believe in His substitutionary, atoning death, bodily resurrection, ascension into Heaven, perpetual intercession for His people, and personal visible return to earth. (John 1:1, Luke 1:35, Romans 3:24-25, I Peter 2:24, Acts 1:9-10, Hebrews 9:24)

5. The Holy Spirit We believe in the Holy Spirit who came forth from the Father and Son to convict the world of sin; righteousness and judgement, and the regenerate, sanctify, and empower all who believe in Jesus Christ. We believe that the Holy Spirit indwells every believer in Christ, and that He is an abiding helper, teacher, and guide. (John 16:8-11, John 16:13, Ephesians 5:18)

6. Regeneration We believe that all people are sinners by nature and by choice and are, therefore, under condemnation. We believe that those who repent of their sins and trust in Jesus Christ as Savior are regenerated by the Holy Spirit. (Romans 3:23, II Corinthians 5:17)

7. Perseverance of the Saints We believe that such only are real believers as endure unto the end; that their persevering attachment to Christ is the grand mark which distinguishes them form superficial professors; that a special providence watches over their welfare; and that they are kept by the power of God through faith into salvation. (Philippians 1:6, I John 5:11-13)

8. The Church We believe in the universal church; a living spiritual body of which Christ is the head, and all regenerated persons are members. We believe in the local church, consisting of a company of believers in Jesus Christ, baptized on a credible profession of faith, and associated for worship, work, and fellowship. We believe that God has laid upon all members of the local church the primary task of giving the gospel of Jesus Christ to a lost world. (Hebrews 12:22-23, Acts 2:41-42, Matthew 28:19-20)

9. Christian Conduct We believe that Christians should live for the glory of God and the well-being of others; that their conduct should be blameless before the world; that they should be faithful stewards of their possessions and that they should seek to realize for themselves and others the full stature of maturity in Christ. (II peter 3:18, II Corinthians 9:7)

10. Christian Marriage We believe that Christian marriage is a sacred institution ordained by God for the happiness of mankind and the propagation of the race. It is a spiritual and physical union of one man and one woman; this is the only legitimate sexual relationship and, according to the scriptural ideal, is to be broken only by death. Accordingly, this Church, its Pastors, staff, and members, will not recognize any other union as a legitimate marriage; our Church and staff shall not perform or participate in any same sex marriage or unions or ceremonies of any kind; and Church facilities shall not be used for such purposes. (Genesis 1:26-2:24, Matthew 5:27-32, Mark 10:1-12, Romans 1:18-32, I Corinthians 6:9-7:40, Ephesians 5:22-33, I Timothy 1:8-11)

11. The Ordinances We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ has committed two ordinances to the local church: baptism and the Lord's Supper. We believe that Christian baptism is the immersion of the believer in water in the name of the triune God. We believe that the Lord's supper was instituted by Christ for commemoration of His death. We believe that these two ordinances should be observed and administered until the return of the Lord Jesus Christ. Romans 6:4, I Corinthians 11:26)

12. Religious Liberty We believe that every human being has direct relations with God and is responsible to God alone in all matters of faith; that each church is independent and must be free from interference by any ecclesiastical or political authority; that, therefore, Church and State must be kept separate as having different functions, each fulfilling its duties free from dictation or patronage of the other. (Romans 14:4, Matthew 22:21, Matthew 23:10)

13. Church Cooperation We believe that local churches can best promote the cause of Jesus Christ by cooperating with one another in a denominational organization. Such an organization, whether it is the Conference or district conference, exists and functions by the will of the churches. Cooperation in a conference is voluntary and may be terminated at any time. Churches may likewise cooperate with interdenominational fellowships on a voluntary basis.

14. The Last Things We believe in the personal and visible return of the Lord Jesu Christ to earth and the establishment of His kingdom. WE believe in the resurrection of the body, the final judgement, the eternal joy of the righteous, and the endless suffering of the wicked. (I Thessalonians 4:1, I Corinthians 15, Hebrews 9:27, John 14:1-3, Revelation 20)

What To Expect

Worshiping Jesus Everything we do in the worship service is about Jesus - singing, praying, preaching, and giving. It's all focused on Him because he gave His life for us!

Biblical Teaching We focus on teaching from the Bible because we believe it is how God reveals himself through Jesus. At it's heart, the Bible is the story of Jesus and His people.

No Perfect People First Baptist Church is not some sort of museum for saints or people who live perfect lives. Instead, it's a place for broken people. People who need God's grace and forgiveness. We're a hospital where sinners find healing and health in Jesus.

Casual Atmosphere We are a loving and open family seeking Jesus together.Don't worry about what to wear. Sure, bring a cup of coffee into the sanctuary. Are your kids fidgety? That's okay (ours were too). We provide activity bags so they can enjoy the service too. This is your home.

Special Services

The Lord's Supper On the first Sunday of every month we celebrate the Lord's Supper (also known as Communion). This is a very special celebration of Jesus' sacrifice to pay the penalty for our sins. The bread is a symbol of Jesus' body which he offered on the cross. The grape Juice is a symbol of Jesus' blood which he shed to pay the price for our sins.

We practice “open” communion, which means if you have asked God to forgive you of your sins on the basis of Jesus' death, burial, and resurrection (NOT on the basis of the good things that you do), then you are welcome to celebrate with us. Some church's practice “closed” communion which means you have to be a member of the church to participate in the celebration. Communion Sunday worship services typically last about 1 ½ hours.

a Baptism All Baptist churches practice “Believer's Baptism.” This means that we baptize people on the basis of their own faith in Jesus (we do not baptize babies). Baptism is a symbol of what Jesus has done for us. We go under the water to symbolize that he paid the price for our sins by His death. We come up out of the water to symbolize that we have been raised with Jesus in his resurrection and now we are living a completely new life - a life of following Jesus. Our baptism services are typically held at Center Lake Bible Camp or in a pond at the home of one of our members. If you are interested in being baptized talk to a Deacon.
